Maybe it is psychological but I do feel super healthy – not to mention rather saintly – after knocking back one of these juices. It’s just so refreshing, it’s easy to glug down and forget that you’ve sneaked some broccoli in, although I have gone to pains to disguise this with the tangy kiwi fruit, sweet apple and minty – er – mint. Limes, cubes of ice and sparkling water always feature in my juices for this reason.
Back to the broccoli, I use about 150g of it which sounds an awful lot. Maybe my juicer isn’t particularly proficient in dealing with the scary green stuff as I am definitely not a hardcore vegetable juicer. So, juice the broccoli last, starting off with a small amount and build up gradually.
Ingredients (serves 1)
3 kiwi fruit
Half a small cucumber (about 75g)
2 celery stalks plus leaves
Broccoli (see introduction)
Water (sparkling water is optional but recommended)
- Peel the kiwi fruit and juice along with the apple, cucumber, celery, mint and broccoli.
- Squeeze the lime(s), pour into a glass with the ice cubes, add the juice, dilute with water and you’re good to go.
